Skirting the Rules: Part One

outfit details:
Y'ALL THIS SEMESTER IS OVER. Well, mostly I'm still taking a Wintermester course. But I'm thrilled to have more free time to spend on creating content for my blog/Instagram again. Look forward to lots of life & style posts coming soon! Starting with this one...

Thankfully it never gets too cold in Austin TX, and I'm always able to mix and match my favorite fall/winter pieces to make it work. My personal favorite way of doing this mixing sweaters and skirts. I scored this little corduroy skirt on sale from H&M, and have been wearing it non-stop. In fact, I wore this exact outfit to my aunt's bridal shower in September.

I paired it with these comfy booties I grabbed from a boutique back in Dallas, so sadly no link. But because I love doing this outfit combo so much, this is only part one. And I'll be back on Saturday with another "Skirt the Rules" post to give you a little bit of Christmas inspiration.

I hope you enjoyed this, and I'd love to hear your thoughts below!

Until next time,
Autumn

What I've learned living alone, and a little apartment tour.

This year I embarked on a journey of epic portions, living alone. After spending half of my college experience with less than desirable roommate situations I decided to pack my bags and move further away from campus to a place of my own.

But let me tell you, living alone is honestly really freaking weird sometimes. Like the things I’m so used to just having in my house growing up aren’t there anymore. Yesterday I had to buy flour, which was strange because the realization that I didn't have it was startling. My mom is a baker, and a pretty avid cook so things like flour, sugar, vanilla extract etc just lived in our pantry. They don't anymore.

It's also odd to have so much autonomy over a space. Don't get me wrong, it's also one of the best parts, but knowing it's absolutely up to me whether my entire apartment sinks or swims felt extremely daunting at first. Despite that, the experience is matured me in ways I'll be forever grateful for. I've learned 100% accountability, budgeting and a couple of things in the kitchen too.

This is all a really long introduction to what's essentially a visual tour of my apartment. I live in a cozy little studio apartment, so essentially the entire thing is just one big room with a kitchen, closet, and a full-sized bathroom. It's definitely a one person place because honestly, it's tiny. But I absolutely love living here and am planning to stay through the end of college. It's my first time decorating my own space for Christmas, and thanks to Target I love the way it came out.

As you can tell I'm a huge fan of neutrals and natural fibers, and so it was super fun getting to do that throughout this little space.

If you want to know where anything is from I'll happily reply with links if I have them but just know the answer is most likely Target, Homegoods or TJ Maxx.

Until next time,
Autumn

I took a break from blogging, here's why...

I took a probably like month long break from blogging. I didn't die or anything, honestly I've just been busy. So if you're curious what exactly that entails here's what I've been up to.

I Started My Junior Year

Basically, school has been pretty hectic. But in a good way, I've been taking classes I've really loved, writing for a lifestyle publication at school, doing things with my sorority (though I haven't been nearly as present there as I'd like to be), and adjusting to living alone.  Which there's a little blog post about that coming soon if you'd like to read all about what that experience has been like!

I've been Interning at SXSW

And that's been quite the experience. In a nutshell, I spend 3 days each week helping SXSW develop all of their digital content. Learning how a major organization communicates their brand across their various social channels has been amazingily benefical and I know this experience will be vital in job hunting post grad.

Spending Time With My Friends

Knowing that I'm graduating in just over a year  has really driven me  to reach out to  friends I haven't spent as much time   with lately. It sounds weirid but knowing that we'll soon be all over the country ftom one another has inspired me to take advantage of the time we have left. To do that  I've tried to put my phone down a little , and really l"live in the moment." Que sera, am I right?

But now that's that, I'm pretty excited for all the content I've got in my arsenal. See  ya soon.
